Improving the Pet Surgery Experience in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Surgery plays a pivotal, yet small, role for most dogs and cats. We routinely perform spays and neuters to give puppies and kittens an ideal start in life, but in most cases, a spay or neuter is the only major surgery a pet will require. However, Nichols Hills Pet Clinic can offer various other surgeries to treat a multitude of conditions, from benign tumors and skin growths to soft tissue injuries.

Our hospital has a dedicated pet surgery suite, complete with state-of-the-art anesthesia, monitoring, and surgical equipment. In addition to our extensive safety protocols, our Fear Free Certified Professionals go the extra mile to make every pet feel at ease before and after their surgery with low-stress handling and pheromones.

If you need to schedule a surgery or post-op appointment, call (405) 842-2273.

Maximizing Safety by Minimizing Risks Before, During, and After Surgery

Every surgery comes with a certain level of risk. Our goal is to minimize those risks as much as possible. To do this, we:

  • Perform a pre-anesthetic examination of your pet, followed by blood work to check their liver and kidney function
  • Connect your pet to an IV catheter so they can receive warmed fluids to maintain their hydration and blood pressure
  • Assign a highly trained veterinary technician to monitor your pet’s temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, and other vitals throughout the surgery with the aid of our advanced monitoring equipment
  • Administer pain relief medication before, during, and after surgery (we also typically send owners home with pain medication)
  • Provide pet owners with detailed home care instructions at discharge
